You know that scene in Real Genius where they're all sitting around studying like mad so they can pass their finals? That's a TrainingMontage. You can tell that they're not using the SlowStudyRules for several reasons: * They didn't study earlier, they spent that time doing Legendary things: mostly pranks and partying, but that's because they're college students. * Most of the studying is off screen. * They're not doing anything else at the time. * There's 80s music playing. So if you have character points sitting around you'd like to use, you should have your character engage in a TrainingMontage. *You can only buy one level of something at a time*. Just make sure that: * Your character isn't doing anything else (studying, building, inventing). * You have CP to spend. * Most of the studying is off-screen (write me a note or send e-mail, rather than bugging players at the run). * There's 80s music playing. Then spend the CP and poof, you have a new level of a skill or an advantage. Anything you could play 80s music during is available for a TrainingMontage. Certainly, book study counts for academic skills. Practice and exercise counts for most athletic or combat skills. For other skills, or for more unusual circumstances, ask. The worst that can happen is I say no and smite your character into itty bitty little pieces.
