- I was born into the Athabaskan Tribe in the NAN twenty eight years ago on a rainy Monday morning. Though the Athabaskan tribe was large, the family I was born into was one of the smaller sections within the Athabaskan. Our tribe is run by a tribal leader who has a council of ten who guides him and helps makes decisions for all of us. The tribal leader then advises the leader of the Athabaskan Tribe, who advises the leader of the NAN. The children go to school, like city children do, but they spend all their free time at home, because they enjoy it. We lived under the big open sky, not like cities where you can't see the sun get up at the horizon every morning. When I was little I climbed into bed with my parents and listened to the rain on our roof at night. In the summer I played barefoot in the grass and gathered berries with my siblings and cousins. In the winter we built snowhouses as big as our normal houses.
- When I was very little I remember my older brother took me to the edge of Lake Louise and showed me Dunkelzahn. He lived across the lake, and our tribe never contested that issue, and once every few years one of the kids playing in the water would see him and soon the whole tribe gathered to watch. I remember once he came over to our side of the lake on a boat. Ever since I made eye contact with him that day, following his career became one of my hobbies.
- My tribe taught me about peace and kindness, the importance of friends, family and acceptance. 'Twas a simple life, even with the excitements once in a while. Like every other adolescant of the tribe, I went off into the wilderness on my twelth birthday and came back a year later as an adult.
- It is hard to say what exactly happened, but I know I was called. Snake called me to learn, to gain knowledge, and I listened. I kept having dreams of a circle around a fire when hundreds of snakes would dance in the moonlight. Eventually I made that circle and the snakes did come, and I learned from their spirit. I learned magic in the forests, on the mountain, and in the desert, sitting peacefully, asking questions of the world and actually getting back answers. I thirsted for knowledge and learned with the help of Snake, and continue doing so today.
- As I grew in wisdom of this new teacher and his teachings, I also physically changed. I became stronger, healthier, I could see at night and could smell animals from far away. One day it occured to me to peer into the stream to see the woman I had become, and I drew back in fear of what I saw. I no longer recognized my face. When it came time for me to return to my tribe, I dreaded the looming rejection, but it never came. The tribe was the same, and so was I, no matter if I looked like a human or like an ork. I was born a human and all my family is so too, and there are parts of me that forget sometimes that I look different from other people. This later became my weak point. Despite being brought up in a world without violence I can't control my anger when someone discriminates against orks. We're just as the same as they are on the inside.
- With this expanding knowledge from Snake I became the brightest of the children in the tribe. I learned much and was one of the few who considered leaving the tribe for college. This was a big jump for me and I feared leaving home. I feared the outside world and leaving the safety of my tribe. However, being the brightest does come with its duties, and the tribe was counting on me to go. They wanted someone to be proud of, someone to go beyond the simple life and be more, and I was that someone. I spent days discussing this with the tribal leader, and we eventually reached a decision. So when I got into MITT I moved to Boston.
- I hate flying. I guess the good thing about Boston is that it is warmer than up North, where my tribe is. However, the people here aren't as accepting of me as my tribe was. They don't know the human I was, and that inside I am just like them. But there I was, in the Boston for at least four years.
- There I started my new path of learning. History became my hobby and I loved it, all of it, especially because I could sit inside the warm library on cold nights and read. I spent a year working with a professor on his overarching theories of history. Perhaps it is too big of a job to try to see history from a standpoint that far away, but he tried it. They say that the past repeats itself, and if so, many interesting things are due to come. After I got my double degree in Thaumatology and History, I realized that no matter how much I missed my family, that Boston was my new home. I had become hardened with the outside world. My language had changed, the way I thought changed and I was a worldly woman. I couldn't go back to the simple life, yet I yearned for it. Thus after I visited the tribe for a summer, I permanently moved back to the only place I could call home, Boston. I got decent pay as a freelance magical researcher and have much money saved up, for what purpose I haven't decided yet. I became used to going to one particular magic store for my goods, and made friends with the owner there. I'm hired by people who want to find their runaway children, police trying to get a key witness to remember details of the crime, and appraisal of modern and ancient objects.

- 2037:
- During the five years prior to that, Dunklezahn had begun spending vast sums to create his current iulair'‚·a sprawling retreat on the shores of Lake Louise in the Athabaskan Council, southwest of Edmonton. It serves not only as a tourist attraction and high-technology entertainment resort, but as the dragon's personal feudal domain. Though the legal basis for Dunklezahn's claim to the land is still unclear, there is little doubt that the great dragon is lord and king over all he surveys. (And, considering the phenomenal destructive power displayed by the great eastern dragon Aden when it razed Teheran in 2020, it is doubtful that anyone in the Athabaskan Council has ever seriously considered attempting to reclaim the land, let alone collect taxes.) The Lake Louise resort is known not only for its quasi-medieval splendor, but for the incredibly sophisticated virtual reality (VR) technology available there. Guests can participate in incredible adventures, witness stunning real and imagined vistas, and generally risk life and limb without leaving the comfort of their recliner.
- The resort's technology is operated by VisionQuest, the former Ares Macrotechnology VR lab purchased by Dunklezahn in 2037. Today, the continually advancing technology of the VisionQuest hardware is considered state-of-the-art for a direct-feed VR experience. The dragon himself seems fascinated by the concept of virtual reality, its applications and implications. Dragons, he is quoted as saying, have a unique understanding of reality, and anything that claims to create or define reality is of great interest to him.
