There are some notes on Disciplined casting at FSThreadmagic, but I'm hoping to make this the single-source document for the magic system, both Disciplined and Intuitive. Intuitive Magic should be based on Attunement, and Disciplined on Magic (need a better name for that substat). What spheres should be available is mostly a matter of tradition, I think, though some effects simply aren't available with the IntuitiveMagic system. Also, if we want to replicate Drain, I suggest a Willpower or Constitution roll vs the Action Result of the spellcasting test, doubled or tripled if you're shaving time. The Outcome, if negative, is how much Impairment or Damage you take. Maybe that's too complicated. Maybe something as simple as 1 point of Impairment per spell cast in a scene? Maybe 1 point of damage per spell cast? I'd like good ideas for this. It should be tied in to Willpower/Constitution (player's choice), and should simply mechanic the growing fatigue from chanelling astral energy. And it should scale with spells. Oh! There we go: you don't have Magic points to spend, since it's not based on Magic. Instead, you can get a similar effect by burning Wounds. How many Wounds is a Magic Point? 3? 5? Have to playtest to find out. I think the Taint-as-Warping/Arcanowave idea works for what it does, but isn't the appropriate mechanic for Drain. Spirit stats should be compiled under FSSpirits, so that they're handy when appropriate. I'm considering restricting the second-level and higher spheres to Disciplined magic. Opinions?
