Revision of Touch of Grace When reconstructing the flesh of other characters, a Mage weaves astral energies into the target's patterns. Warped essence (due to blood magic) makes this more difficult, and unclean astral space can result in inadvertently weaving in some of the spiky bits (always unfortunate). The difficulty of the Compassion roll to restore a health level is 1 for people with up to one dot of essence-warping from blood magic (cyber), 2 for people with 2 or 3 dots, 3 for people with 4-5 dots. Places like the arctic, with depleted/twisting mana may also add to difficulty in this way. (this reflects the increased difficulty of healing cybered people in SR) In addition: in safe areas (most of the boston setting except boston itself) healing is safe. In clear areas (most of boston, the general state of Camrish) an addition success is required to not also grant a point of Taint. In Tainted areas, i.e. those where horrors have been active recently, two additional successes are needed (certain portions of underboston, lots of places in the camrish setting, the safest spots in parlainth), and in Corrupted places (those where notable horrors have been actively working recently), three additional successes are needed. So if healing a person with Cyberware 3 in a Tainted zone, 0-1 success would do nothing, 2-3 successes wound grant a health level and a taint point, and 4+ successes would heal the level without adding taint. Note that a Stomach Bottle Bug is a minor horror, and thus any healing it does would be in, at best, a Tainted zone. The gain in taint sort of drives the This Is Horror Healing home.
Some sort of virtue or willpower roll may want to be added to the use of spirit charms in tainted areas, particularly if using peripheral essence. So far, I believe we've just refrained, but it would be nice to know what happens, though I consider it within GM perogative to reveal what happens *after* someone tries...
