This costs one mote per language used, and lasts for one speech. The Exalt has no special knowledge of the languages his targets understand, so the player must specify which languages are to be used. The Solar also has to know the languages to be used, either through mundane Linguistics or through Charms. **Meditation on the Children of the Lens** Simple, Scene, 8m, Essence 5, Linguistics 5. This isn't really about Speak Language, but it is about speaking languages. The right way to do Linguistics (and maybe Craft) in our world is to look at the broadness of other skills: Melee covers fighting with *anything*. Linguistics should really be as broad. So my idea is to set "Thresholds" for various languages: you need a Linguistics of 0 for your native language (English/Dwarven), 1 gets you French,German,Spanish/Human,Orkish, 2 gets you Japanese,Arabic/T'Skrang,Trollish, 4 gets you Sperethial/Sperethial, and 5 is reserved for Linear B, Mayan, and such. Who said that? I think that's wonderful...you could even make normal linguistics give you a decent, but abstracted chance to pick up or already know a language/dialect, and enhace that with a background as necessary (a sort of heartsblood like background, to represent language exposure form traveling and the like...) dude. I wonder how much other interesting random stuff like this is burried in the wiki? --jesse cox. I'm going to make a wild guess and say that I'm the only one who distinguishes between Sperethial and Sperethial or consideres Linear B and Mayan (or French and Orkish) to be equally difficult languages. :) --bts
