A "crest" is something that only an Adept has. If your dual-ness manifests on the first two banner levels, then having an adept's crest manifest as well leads to one possible interprestation, of their soal being branded with the insignia of their discipline. I'd assume that all swordmasters have the same basic crest (possibly with subtle variations), all warriors, all nethermancers, all skyraiders, etc. I also think people who are disciplines should have the most input on what their crest looks like. Still, here's some speculation on what crests for known disciplines might be...draws from some of my earlier speculation on relations between adepts, so it may seem a little hokey. Also space for extension, so the crest reflects to some degree how powerful the individual is. * Warror: a striking hand (fist, karate chop, might have a brawling aid) (more hands for higher essence) * Weaponsmith: A hand clutching a hammer (or other smithing tool) layed upon an anvil. Might substitute other crafts. (more tools for higher essence) * An open or arcanely jesturing hand, surrounded by five elemental marks. (other hands, connections between marks appear at higher essence) * Archer: a blazing arrow and an open eye, in some configuration (more arrows or eyes at higher essence) * Seeker: an opening eye over a manuscript or other archeological artifact (more artifacts or eyes at higher essence) * Wizard: a lidless, mystical eye surrounded by a ring of "names" (more eyes, denser ring of names at higher essence) * Theif: one sitting alone, in a dark circle (darkness grows, things may appear with the theif) * Skyraider: one standing alone, weapons aloft, in a clear sky (more sky, possibly a ship) * Illusionist: a lone figure in the background of whatever else one might imagine (as the pupil of a mystic eye, standing behind an open hand, wearing a cloak with two weapons crossed before him, etc...can be mistakable for other people's crests if you don't look closely) * Swordmaster: crossed blades, with an articles of clothing in the background (such as a cape or hat, more blades and gloves/cloaks/whatever as essence increases) * Troubador: a mask or costume piece, with a performance implement (like a musical instrumet or a makeup kit, more items as essence increases) * Calvaryman: a rider and mount, moving as one (more mounts and riders, in one action, as essence increases) * Beastmaster: two or more animals, together (either playing with each other, turned to face a threat, whatever--more animals for higher essence) * Nethermancer: a teapot, with a gostly (skellital, otherwise unnatural) hand and a (mostly) human hand casped over it. (more hands together for higher essence) if you've got more than one discipline, you (have multiple cast marks? Have one, that takes aspects of both?)
