It's not an area-effect spell, so "extra area" threads only give it an extra square yard. It manifests an effect, so it can be made an area-effect spell using an "Area Effect" thread. Damage to the mirage is reflected by skew in the matrix. NonWizardMetaMagic Non-Wizards don't get general versions of DetectMagic, DispelMagic, etc. Instead, they get Discipline-specific versions. These have the same stats as the Wizard versions (so yes, they're strictly less effective. There are counterbalances). NonIllusionistIllusions Non-Illusionists need to weave lots of extra threads to create illusions. Illusionists have to weave threads to go the other way; this is usually of benefit to them. NonElementalistLifeMagic The spirits of living things chafe under the corrupting influence of non-Elementalist magic? This is just a guess so far. Any better ideas? RecoverStrength The caster recovers one point of physical fatigue per point invested in the spell. Roll well for drain resistance. Note that this doesn't work on fatigue from spellcasting. Cost: 1 point per point of physical fatigue to be removed. Casting Time: 10 minutes, not reducible [Armor] As normal, but at a cost of 1 per 2 points of DR. Damage is too easy to generate in this universe; Armor's a useless spell as written. MissileShield and ReverseMissiles Like many high-tech GMs, I've removed both of these. Unlike most, I offer replacements: BulletBarrier, ArrowBarrier, RedirectBullet, and friends. BulletBarrier Area. Any bullet attack which does less damage than this spell blocks is utterly deflected. For example, a 4-point cost BulletBarrier will block any bullet which does up to 4d of damage. Yes, this prevents firing bullets outward as well. Duration: 1 Minute Base Cost: 2 per die of damage deflected, half cost to maintain (and similar spells for BladeBarrier, etc. BladeBarrier would be half the cost of BulletBarrier. No, you can't deflect lasers without turning off all the lights, or rigging up a [Link], DetectLaser, and LaserBarrier.) RedirectBullet Blocking. The mage telekinetically twists a bullet in the air, aiming it at another target. If this spell succeeds, the bullet gets a resistance roll as a "machined object." If that roll fails, the mage has enough of a grip on the bullet to deflect it. This is a "Wild Shot" (9 or above fails), using the spell skill without Magery bonuses, and without any Acc. Range modifiers are calculated for the bullet's presumed path (from the source to the mage to the target). Cost: 1 per die of damage deflected ManaBolt Generic Ranged Mystic Damage, 1d per point invested. Line-of-Sight range, but no Acc and not targetable at particular physical parts. Thrown with IQ+SpellThrowing StunBolt As ManaBolt, but 1d of stun per point invested, and an acc of +3. ManaBall As ManaBolt, but Explosive. how about NonElementalistPermenentMagic non elementalists need to weave lots of extra threads, spend more kernals of true elements to make things that are permenent. Creating a rock wall that will last forever is not hard, creating a wall of force, or an illusion of rock, or a wall of shriking spirits that will last longer then a year and a day is. They can summon/banish/bind/command horrors. They can also deal with any and all other spirits. Elemantal spirits, spirits of the dead, etc. -jss I like both of those quite a bit. --bts
