A Chip Slot/Jack is a multi-purpose skull socket for insertion of modular brain implants, colloquially known as "chips". Note that a Chip Jack alone is *not* enough to use Reflex chips, which grant physical skills. It is enough to use chips which grant mental skills, as well as to access raw data, transfer data to cranial memory, or run programs on an [Encephalon]. It takes two seconds to insert a chip and five seconds to replace one. (It doesn't say how long it takes to remove one, but obviously it's no longer than three seconds, and is most likely two.) Chip slots contain many sorts of [Chips]. A chip jack costs $5000 for the first slot, $10k for the second, $20k for the third, $40k for the fourth, $80k for the fifth, and $160k for each additional. Thus, to get six slots costs $315000.
