HT+ST, Karma (see below), target must be willing. Blood share allows a character to transfer HP between himself and another living creature, so long as that creature has blood. In order to use this talent, the character makes a small incision, just enough to draw blood, on both himself and the target. He then presses the wounds together and makes a HT+ST+rank test, using a point of karma. This test automatically fails if the subject is unwilling. On successful test, the character may transfer a number of HP between himself adn the subject equal to the success margin (minimum one). For example, on a success by 8, the characer could gain 8 hitpoints (dealing an equal amount of damage to the subject), or heal the subject 8 hitpoints (dealing himself 8 damage), or he may choose to only transfer anywhere for zero to seven hitpoints. This cannot be used to take anyone over their maximum HP, although it may cause death checks if enough HP are removed. Note that the character using blood share is in total control of how damage flows--the subject has no say, once bloodshare has been used, and the damage taken by either perticipant may be enough to kill them. The obvious social constraints are in place to discourage such behaviour. A Calveryman may use this talent on his mount without spending karma, and there may be other exceptions for similarly close bonds.
The amount of HP that can be shared this way seems a bit high, but just rolling against HT does almost nothing. Suggestions on how to make it more reasonable? Perhaps only roll against HT + ST/2? Or just flatly make the amount transferable equal to HT+rank? --zebediah rolling against 2 stats seems odd, there is alway rolling ht+rank+a fixed # bonus, or given you need to spend karma, you will be averaging decently if you spend good karma points. -jss
Rolling against two stats is weird. I'd be inclined to say you roll against HT+Rank, and the target *doesn't* need to be willing -- just eligible for blood oath, just like in the original Talent. You can then transfer up to Rank+K points, where K is the number of Karma points you're spending. You have to spend an extra (non-useful) Karma point to use this on something other than your Mount. --bts
