[Taint] and Black Magic Black Magic is **heavily** addictive. If you are already a spellcaster and are granted the ability to use Black Magic, you can choose to cast with black magic or normally.("white", or at least mottled gray). The more you cast Black, however, the more often you'll find yourself wanting to use Black Magic. Casting White when you are [Taint]ed: You have a penalty of *-(permanent+temporary taint)* to any spells. Yes, that means that if you are tainted, it's a **lot** harder to cast pure spells. Don't get tainted. Aquiring [Taint] from Black Spellcasting At the end of any day on which you cast a black spell, roll **WILL-(cost of spell energy borrowed from horrors)** On a success, do nothing. On a failure, take one point of taint per 10 points of failure (round up, so failing by 1-9 still gets you a point). Critical Failures are just failures. You can burn [Karma] to get rid of this taint as it comes in, but not afterward. If you're doing Dark Magic, you must borrow at least one point of energy per spell cast. So if you do 100 Dark spells, even if you don't borrow any more, you're screwed, because you are rolling at WL-100. Black Magic Critical Failures Have a *nasty* new table. This will be used for all spells cast Black, and may apply to some cast White by tainted spellcasters.
