Once again, I shall be summarizing what happened today and what lessons we as a group should learn. Events: We recieved a call from a fishing company, which said they were being attacked inside there werehouse by giant apparently sentient shrimp. We distributed equipment, then drove to the location. We started by scouting the exterior building with drones. All doors were closed; there was only one window, which gave a view of the office, which was empty, but had bloodstains and bulletholes on the walls. Next, the mages scouted; Koda with clairvoiance and Melody by astrally projecting. The building was dark inside, but we did get some idea of the layout, and Melody gave us an idea where the most powerful presences were. We then proceeded to the back of the building and opened one of the loading doors, and sent in a drone to scout. The drone found multiple gigantic (200 pound or so) shrimp on the second floor, as well as a shamanic lodge containing four children. Many of the packing crates in the werehouse were shattered, and guns, ammo, and normal sized shrimp were scattered about the floor. attempted to mindlink with one of the normal sized shrimp and got a strange result (brief contact with something powerful, which then backed off). We then started to move into the first floor. A pile of shrimp began to grow and pick up guns and started oozing oil; we backed off and identified it as a toxic great form nature spirit. We backed out of the building to think about a plan. Melody scouted the second floor again, and made contact with the children. They used the gigantic shrimp spirits to scout astrally at us. After talking several times, we established that they, with help from some spirits, had taken over the building, and were waiting for their 'friends' who were swimming through astral space toward them. They demanded food and a couple other things. We decided that we needed to deal before their 'friends' arrived; we fetched the food they had requested to distract them, left the mages by the first floor to deal with the spirit, and the rest of the party went to the roof to deal with the shamans; the medic, stayed in safety on the roof to deal with the children when we subdued them and to deal with anyone who got injured. The assault party entered stealthily through a trap door in the roof and took up position. led the assault with a pair of flash-bang grenades, one of which landed directly in the medicine lodge where the shamans and gigantic shrimp were. Unfortunately, they all survived unscathed (as far as we could tell; I'm honestly pretty shocked that a group of kids within yards of a flash-bang grenade suffered no obvious effects) was attacked by one of the giant shrimp; was attacked by another. Both dealt quickly, and the party closed in on the medicine lodge. was attacked by the other two giant shrimp, and children threw some sort of spells at . The party stunned three of the children, but not before they helped the fourth transform into another giant fish-thing. carried off the three stunned children, while , , and beat up on the giant fish-thing. Eventually it disappeared into astral space; used his spiffy sword to cut it up; it disappeared and the fourth child suddenly reappeared with one of his legs cut off. The ground floor people had more trouble; the doors had been locked and jammed. came down to help pick an electronic lock, while Koda picked the mechanical lock. Eventually they got one of the mechanical locks unlocked, and realized that the door was jammed; they unjammed it and started to attack the pillar of shrimp. It didn't seem to care. Scouting, we discovered two more giant pillars of shrimp, and a glowing ball at the center of the triangle. The glowing ball started spouting water, which rapidly began to flood the building (up to 3 feet of water by the end of the fight). Melody scouted astrally, and discovered stuff (tentacles and such) starting to come out of the glowing ball all retreated when bonked astrally. Eventually, controlled one of the pillars and ordered it to attack the 'portal' through which its 'friends' were going to be summoned. It did; as it moved off of its point, the flooding intensified. Shortly thereafter, something came through the portal and stayed; it was a humanoid in platemail, with a two-handed sword, with a pile of worms for a head. We decided it must be evil, and started attacking both it and the portal. Worm-head sucked up a decent amount of damage, then said 'sorry guys, you'll have to wait' and slammed his sword into the portal, which began to change (pulsing, changing color, and expanding), and then began to walk out of the building. Him leaving seemed bad, so we shot him twice with the varmit gun (dragonslayer gauss rifle; ~50 points of damage ), and several times with lighter weaponry. Eventually he bothered to raise some sort of magical shield; people attempting to kick and stab him had their limbs go numb when they hit the shield, and it seemed to block small projectiles. He made a few wierd gestures, said something about times changing, and vanished in a colored bubble. We handed off the kid with missing leg to docwagon, picked up the sword (the portal appeared to have vanished while we were trying to deal with the guy). Trying to touch the sword sets off people danger sense; we chopped out the chunk of floor it was in and carried it off that way. It appears to be made of stone, with small chunks of magically active stuff at the edge, and has inscriptions in an unknown language along the blade and crosspiece. It appears the same in astral space, which indicates it is spiffy and magical. We then returned to headquarters, and collected our fee. Lessons learned: 1) Don't move the bodies of astrally projecting mages; I accidentally traumatized Melody that way. 2) We suck at fighting spirits. No, really. Mages should work on astral combat, or spells for hitting spirits; timmy the pillar of shrimp was regenerating faster than we could hit him... 3) We need better communication between realspace and astralspace people. People who can percieve astral are useful this way. 4) We need to have more knockout weapons that work on non-humans; stunners are completely pointless agains giant shrimp, so anyone carrying a stunner should have at least a tangler as a backup. 5) Tanglers should be used en-masse. Hit a big badass with a tangler, and you annoy him; hitting him with 5 tanglers might do more. 6) Several more people need to carry a kill weapons; when the big badass showed up, if everyone had been able to put normal bullets or gyrocs into him, it might have also done more. 7) We will take multiple vehicles next time, to give us freedom to send one off to fetch things. 8) Tell the party what skills and stuff you have. That way when we find out that we need someone to pick a lock, we know who has lockpicking without having to stop and ask...
